5 Reasons to plan a late-summer visit to Walt Disney World this year

We're reaching the peak of summer, when the kids start to get restless and the school supplies start sneaking onto store shelves. If you're needing to break up the summertime blues or schedule a back-to-school surprise, here are five great reasons to head to Walt Disney World before the leaves begin to turn!

Crowds & Prices Are Down

Yep, you read that correctly - according to wait times, crowd levels have been dropping since the late part of June. Summer is no longer considered the height of visitors at Walt Disney World, so it's much more manageable than in years past. Most crowd calendars are reporting a 4/10 or 5/10 crowd level - or lower - for July, August, and the first part of September (excluding holiday weekends). Disney knows this and has started offering some great promotions for arrivals now through September 29. As an experienced travel professional, I can help you get the most bang for your buck with the many resort and ticket discounts available!

New Attractions = More Thrills

This summer, Disney opened TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom - one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world. And Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is still proving to be a fan favorite over in EPCOT since its debut last year. Combined with all of the other new experiences that have opened in recent years (including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney's Hollywood Studios), Disney thrills us like nothing before! In for a more mild theme park vacation? Plenty of family-friendly attractions have joined the ranks or undergone recent refurbishments, and extremely popular nighttime spectaculars like Fantasmic and Happily Ever After are back!

EPCOT's Most Flavorful Festival Returns

The tasty EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival returns to Walt Disney World July 27, and runs through November 18. This is one of my favorite times to visit EPCOT, as Global Marketplace food kitchens line World Showcase with tasting dishes inspired by menus from around the world. You can also enjoy unique wine, beer, and cocktail selections - as well as desserts like a new item in 2023, the pickle milkshake! Visit the festival with your regular theme park admission, which also includes a nightly Eat to the Beat concert performance. Make sure to check the lineup for some of your favorite artists!

Spooks & Scares Just Around the Corner

We may be a ways off from that autumn chill in the air, but the Mickey pumpkins head out early at Disney! Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (a special ticketed event) de-BOOs August 11 and continues on select nights throughout the season. This is one of my don't-miss events for anyone visiting August-October, and I'd love to help with your ticket purchase and party questions. Overall, Halloween brings festive decor, delicious snacks, and lots of tricks & treats to Walt Disney World for kids and adults alike. Be a savvy traveler and take advantage of the celebrations before all of the other happy haunts flock to the parks in October.

Awesome Availability for More Magic

Given all of these incredible reasons to visit in the next few months, you might be surprised to hear that availability for dining, resort rooms, and park reservations is extremely favorable right now! I've been watching as I'm helping clients (and maybe planning a few of my own surprises!), and it's been a long time since I've seen so many options open for a last-minute Walt Disney World visit. Take advantage of this pocket in time while "revenge travel" has died down and holiday travel is still on the horizon to make even more magic during your Disney vacation!

It's truly special to find little pockets of time where you can really enjoy everything the Disney parks and resorts have to offer, and these months have always some of my favorites.
