With this weekend's media preview event, we now have our first view into Epic Universe - Universal Orlando Resort's newest theme park opening May 22, 2025. Maybe you caught a glimpse of new-to-you lands or old favorite stories... Time for a refresher? Prepare to be transported into these EPIC adventures by getting in your coziest spot with your favorite snacks - here's your list of recommended viewing before visiting Epic Universe for yourself!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic
This new wizarding world will draw inspiration from both the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beast franchises, so take a trip down memory lane with some of your favorite stories, AND prepare to be amazed by new friends! Stream the Fantastic Beasts series on MAX, or view the Harry Potter series as part of Peacock's Epic Destination playlist:
Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2016) - Introduction to the world of Newt Scamander
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) - Explore the Wizarding World of Paris in the 1920s, including Le Cirque Arcanus, which will come alive in the new park
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007); Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One and Two (2010/2011) - Catch up on the crimes of Dolores Umbridge before visiting the Ministry of Magic on the day of her trial in Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, a premier new Epic Universe attraction. You may even have a chance to travel by Floo system for yourself!
*If you haven't seen the Harry Potter films before, make sure to go back for a full movie marathon (beginning with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) before picking up Order of the Phoenix!
Isle of Berk
If you've ever wanted to live like a Viking, you'll have your chance in this How to Train Your Dragon-inspired land, complete with water battles and actual flying dragons! View the films on Peacock's Epic Destination playlist:
How to Train Your Dragon (2010)
How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014)
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019)
These three films will give you all you need to know about characters like Hiccup and Toothless, and the lore Isle of Berk will pull from for attractions like Hiccup's Wing Gliders. But if you really want a taste of the Viking lifestyle (dragon racing, anyone?), you may also want to catch up on the "Dragons" series (2012, 8 seasons) for a deeper dive.
Super Nintendo World
You'll be crying "It's-a-ME!" as you enter the life-sized Mushroom Kingdom and Donkey Kong Country of this game world brought to life. While not based on any specific game, Super Nintendo World draws inspiration from generations of fan-favorite video games and characters. There aren't too many on-screen opportunities here - please tell me someone else remembers the old Mario Bros. TV show from the 80s?? - but there is a new release from 2023 to refamiliarize yourself with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser. You can also go back to ANY of the Super Mario Bros. games, from the original 1985 2D classic, to newer iterations like "Super Mario Bros. Wonder", "Yoshi's Crafted World", or "Donkey Kong Country Returns". Watch with Prime, or purchase from Apple TV:
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Dark Universe
Going back to where it all began, this highly-anticipated land will bring classic monsters to life - or at least as lifelike as I'm willing to experience! Sure, it's not Halloween season yet - but if you're up for a good scare or a "how have I never seen this?!" moment, look no further than some of best horror films of the previous century. Most of the films below are available on Peacock and Freevee, or rent/buy from another streamer:
Dracula (1931)
Frankenstein (1931)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Werewolf of London (1935)
The Wolf Man (1941)
The Invisible Man (1933)
The Mummy (1932)
Dark Universe builds upon the legacy of the Universal Pictures classic Monsters franchise, so even in a modern world - anchored by an all-new tale of Darkmoor Village and Victoria Frankenstein, the many-times-over great-granddaughter of Victor - you'll want to be familiar with its most legendary residents!
With portals to these five immersive worlds, plus the new and original Celestial Park hub, you will truly be transported to an EPIC adventure at Universal Orlando Resort this summer. Park tickets and vacation packages are available to book now - be one of the first to encounter new lands and favorite stories at Epic Universe!
